God placed Adam in the Garden of Eden and gave him a command.
The Forbidden Fruit

The Command
God placed Adam in the Garden of Eden and gave him a command: he could eat freely from every tree in the garden except the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
God warned that eating from this tree would result in death (“for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die”).

Adam Names the Animals
God brought all the animals and birds to Adam to see what he would name them. Adam gave names to all the livestock, birds of the air, and beasts of the field, this task reflects Adam’s authority and dominion over creation (Genesis 1:28) and his intellectual capacity.
However, no suitable helper was found among the animals, setting the stage for the creation of Eve (Genesis 2:20-22).
