Genesis 1:26-27
Adam's Creation
God created Adam as the first man, forming him in His own image and likeness (Genesis 1:26-27). Genesis 2:7 provides a more detailed account, stating that God formed Adam from the dust of the ground and breathed life into him, making him a living soul.
This act distinguishes Adam as a unique creation, bearing God’s image and given dominion over the earth (Genesis 1:28).
Dust of the Ground
The text specifies that God formed Adam “of the dust of the ground” (Hebrew: adamah, meaning "ground" or "earth"). This emphasizes man's connection to the earth and its humble origins.
The use of dust underscores Adam’s physical nature, contrasting with the divine breath that animates him.
